portfolio announcements

aktiia becomes hilo and raises $42 million series b

We’re excited to share a major milestone from the redalpine portfolio: Aktiia (RAC III) has secured $42M in Series B funding and is rebranding to Hilo.

With this round, Hilo is advancing its goal to make AI-powered, cuffless blood pressure monitoring the global standard for the 1.4bn people living with hypertension.

Recent highlights from Hilo include:

  • Development of a foundation machine learning model trained on tens of billions of optical signals.

  • Launch of a CE-marked phone camera blood pressure monitoring technology, making it easier than ever to track blood pressure anytime, anywhere.

  • Regulatory approvals secured in 22 countries globally.

  • Completion of a pivotal clinical trial in preparation for U.S. FDA submission

Hypertension has been the leading cause of preventable death for over 30 years, responsible for over 11 million deaths annually. Hilo is committed to improving patients' lives and reducing unnecessary deaths by transforming how blood pressure is monitored and managed.

We doubled down on our support of this mission by participating in Hilo's latest round, co-led by Earlybird Venture Capital and Wellington Partners, with new investors Kfund and naturalX Health Ventures joining.

Huge congrats to CEO Raghav Gupta and co-founders Mattia Bertschi and Josep Solà on yet another impressive achievement!

Transforming digital healthcare through AI innovation

Voize, the AI-powered voice documentation platform, has raised a $9M Seed round to accelerate their mission of revolutionizing healthcare documentation. The round was led by HV Capital and we contributed alongside Y Combinator and HPI Ventures.

Voize tackles a critical challenge in healthcare: the heavy burden of administrative documentation. Their AI-driven solution significantly reduces the time caregivers spend on paperwork, allowing them to focus on what matters most - patient care.

With partnerships across over 600 care facilities and a new collaboration with Recare to improve hospital discharge management, voize is expanding its reach and setting a new standard for digital documentation in healthcare.

We’re proud to back co-founders Erik Ziegler, Fabio Schmidberger, Marcel Schmidberger, and the entire voize team as they lead the digital transformation of healthcare!

London office opening

From the Alps to the City: Celebrating redalpine’s London Office

At the end of March, we officially celebrated the opening of our London office with a reception hosted in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in the United Kingdom.

A highlight of the evening was our panel discussion on "The Deeptech Challenge: Funding Startups in Science and Software", moderated by Marc Moesser and featuring Carolyn Dawson (CEO, Founders Forum Group), Daniel Naeff (Head of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, ETH Zurich AI Centre) and Glen Gowers (CEO, Basecamp Research).

Key takeaways from the discussion:

  • Europe’s scientific and technical talent is world-class, but building globally successful deeptech companies also requires experienced operators and commercial leaders.

  • Deeptech startups need investors who understand both breakthrough technology and operational scaling.

  • AI is accelerating deeptech innovation, lowering barriers and speeding up time-to-market for science-based startups.

A big thank you to our partners at the Swiss Embassy for their support and collaboration!

what we're reading

Why it matters: Aerial construction technologies could revolutionize how we build in hard-to-reach places - from mountain regions to disaster zones - making construction faster, safer, and more scalable. Researchers at Empa and EPFL are leading the way, showing how lightweight drones could work together to transport materials, repair high-rise structures, and even create new buildings layer by layer. While still early in development, the potential to complement ground-based robotics could open entirely new horizons for the construction industry - and strengthen Europe’s leadership in frontier tech innovation.
