redalpine welcomes Daniel Graf as new General Partner amidst strategic US expansion

redalpine, the leading Swiss venture capital firm, is excited to announce the appointment of Silicon Valley-based Daniel Graf as General Partner, marking a significant step in its strategic expansion across the Atlantic. This appointment underscores redalpine’s commitment to bridging European tech innovation with the dynamic US market.

Daniel’s journey to redalpine

With over 25 years of operational expertise and a stellar track record in the tech industry, Daniel Graf brings extensive experience to redalpine. Originally from Switzerland and a long-term US resident, Daniel has been instrumental in scaling innovative technologies globally. He has led significant ventures, including his startup Kyte, and held pivotal roles at major tech companies such as Google, X (formerly Twitter), and Uber. At Google Maps, he was responsible for two products, which each amassed over 1bn monthly active users - Google Maps and Google Local. At Uber, as a member of the management team, Daniel led the Product team, which consisted of over 1,000 people.

Over the last three years, Daniel has focused on the healthtech industry, most recently in his role as Chief Product and Technology Officer at DispatchHealth, which has brought the ER and hospital to the comfort of the homes of over one million patients to date. Throughout his career, Daniel has amassed extensive venture capital acumen, having invested in over 60 startups and 20 venture capital funds globally.

Commenting on his decision to join redalpine, Daniel said: "I am thrilled to join redalpine as a General Partner. This opportunity allows me to merge my deep operational experience with my passion for nurturing groundbreaking technologies. I am eager to drive redalpine’s purpose of empowering GameChangers and amplifying European innovation in the US market."

Empowering the next generation of GameChangers

Since its founding in 2006, redalpine has been committed to empowering GameChangers from inception to exit. Daniel’s extensive experience in developing high-impact products and companies will significantly enhance the support provided to redalpine’s diverse portfolio. By joining redalpine, Daniel strengthens an already robust Partner team that stands out with its diverse blend of backgrounds, comprising founders, scientists, business leaders, investors, operators, and more.

Daniel's transition to redalpine is deeply rooted in a longstanding relationship with the fund. It started as a trusted friend and collaborator of the founding partners, and after becoming an LP in the fund himself, Daniel was appointed as a Venture Partner in 2018. This underscores his commitment to supporting redalpine’s portfolio companies, and today he operationally works with both Aktiia and Lakera.

Peter Niederhauser, Founder and Managing Partner at redalpine, said: "Daniel's ability to swiftly recognize the potential within technologies and products is truly exceptional. His track record of effectively crafting and executing strategies, as evidenced by his successes with Google Maps, Uber, and many, many other ventures, positions him as a highly valuable addition to the redalpine team. Moreover, Daniel fits perfectly into our company culture, sharing our Swiss values and humble approach. I look forward to working closely with him to empower current and future GameChangers.”

Connecting the US and Europe

Positioned in Silicon Valley, Daniel will act as a vital conduit between European innovation and the US market. His deep-rooted industry connections and intimate understanding of the US tech ecosystem will enhance redalpine's ability to support portfolio companies in achieving international growth and recognition, while also providing a gateway for US VCs that have long struggled to access the European tech ecosystem.

The introduction of Daniel as a GP will also increase US investors’ access to top-tier European venture capital via redalpine’s innovative Summit Fund. This evergreen, multi-stage fund offers diversified access to Europe's most promising firms, ranging from early-stage startups to later-stage category leaders. The Summit Fund's open-ended, semi-liquid structure provides unparalleled flexibility, aligning with redalpine’s vision of fostering long-term, sustainable growth.

With Daniel’s leadership, redalpine is poised to further its impact as a catalyst in the global tech ecosystem, strengthening its presence and fostering sustainable growth across continents.
