Nscale: building the foundational layer for the AI era

compute is the bottleneck
Every major technology shift has its defining constraint. For the AI era, it is compute. Demand for AI infrastructure is growing faster than the industry's ability to deploy it reliably and at scale. The question is no longer whether enterprises, governments, and hyperscalers will need production-grade AI infrastructure; it is who will build it fast enough, and who will run it well.
Nscale was founded to answer that question.
The UK-headquartered AI infrastructure hyperscaler is building the foundational layer for global AI deployments, delivering GPU compute, networking, data services, and orchestration software through a fully vertically integrated platform. From data center design to inference workloads, Nscale handles the full stack, enabling enterprises to run AI training, fine-tuning, and inference at genuine production scale.
the infrastructure gap
Despite the pace of AI adoption, a fundamental gap remains between model capability and real-world deployment. Most enterprises cannot simply plug foundation models into their operations. They need reliable, scalable, production-grade infrastructure that can handle workloads consistently, across geographies, and at a cost structure that makes sense. That is precisely the gap Nscale is built to close.
The scale of the opportunity is significant. AI is reshaping industries, economies, and national strategies, and accelerated computing platforms are the engine driving that shift. As Josh Payne, CEO and founder of Nscale, put it: "Over the next five years, artificial intelligence will be integrated into every industry, every product, and every job. This is leading to the largest infrastructure buildout in human history. Nscale is leading this buildout." Nscale already has hundreds of thousands of GPUs contracted and a multi-gigawatt power pipeline across Europe and North America, giving the company a meaningful head start in a race where deployment capacity is the scarce resource.
an exceptional team and board
Founder Josh Payne and the Nscale team have assembled one of the most impressive boards in European tech. Sheryl Sandberg brings decades of experience scaling Meta and Google into global platforms. Susan Decker contributes deep financial and governance expertise from her time as President of Yahoo and her current board roles at Berkshire Hathaway and Costco. Nick Clegg, formerly UK Deputy Prime Minister and President of Global Affairs at Meta, adds rare expertise at the intersection of technology, policy, and international regulation. Alongside existing directors including Aker's Øyvind Eriksen, this board brings the operational, strategic, and regulatory depth that infrastructure at this scale demands.
a landmark round
In March 2026, Nscale closed a $2 billion Series C, the largest in European history, valuing the company at $14.6 billion. The round was led by Aker ASA and 8090 Industries, with participation from NVIDIA, Citadel, Jane Street, Point72, Dell, Nokia, and others. Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan acted as joint placement agents.
why redalpine backed Nscale
We invested in Nscale via our evergreen, multi-stage Summit Fund, which is designed to give investors continuous exposure to category-defining companies across stages. Nscale fits precisely the kind of investment the Summit Fund was built for: a business operating at the intersection of deep infrastructure and a defining technology wave of our time, led by a team with the ambition and execution capability to match the scale of the opportunity.
The race to deploy production-grade AI infrastructure at scale is just beginning, and we are convinced that Nscale has what it takes to lead it.
