The unstoppable rise of AI is revolutionizing multiple industries, and our portfolio company, natif.ai (RAC VI), is at the forefront of this charge. Today,  we are thrilled to announce that, thanks to its strong team and powerful technology, natif.ai has been acquired by leading document management provider DocuWare. This marks another successful exit from our portfolio this year after we led natif’s seed investment in 2022.

Born as an official spin-off of the German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), natif.ai has emerged as a trailblazer in intelligent document processing. Their user-friendly tools enable developers to automate document tasks using AI and machine learning technologies, setting the benchmark for document processing in the market.

The acquisition serves to significantly enhance DocuWare’s AI offerings to help the company consolidate its presence in Germany’s booming tech landscape. Under the acquisition agreement, natif.ai will remain in the AI hotspot of Saabrücken as an independent legal entity, with its executives and employees becoming a part of the DocuWare Group.

We led natif’s seed round in 2022 and have since worked closely with the company to provide strategic and hands-on support on growth, hiring, and business development.

Speaking on the acquisition, redalpine Principal Antonius Salis said: “From day one, we were convinced by the impressive technology and great people behind natif. The team has built the leading AI-driven document automation solution. Closely collaborating with the founders over the past two years to sharpen the go to market approach and drive commercialization has been incredibly rewarding. The alignment with DocuWare is a perfect fit for the company, and we couldn't be more excited for the entire natif.ai team on this new chapter!”

Speaking on the acquisition in a joint statement, Johannes Korves, co-CEO and Manuel Zapp, CTO of natif.ai said, “We are excited to take this giant leap forward and become a part of the DocuWare Group. Our core driver has always been to accelerate and sustain growth through technology. The transformation to business automation and growth that we will make together with DocuWare is going to be fast and powerful.”

Congratulations to the natif.ai team - we wish them all the best!
