Redalpine is proud to announce that our portfolio company, Aktiia (Redalpine Capital III), has raised $17.5M in Series A funding for continued market expansion of its wearable blood-pressure monitoring system. The funding round was led by UK-based Draper Esprit and included Redalpine, 415 Capital, Verve Ventures and US-Based Translink Capital.
Aktiia‘s first-to-market, continuous Optical Blood Pressure Monitoring System comfortably and reliably collects user blood pressure data while worn on their wrists. This data provides patients and doctors comprehensive insights for the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, the leading global cause of premature adult deaths. After receiving the CE mark, Aktiia is currently experiencing accelerated sales growth across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy. The funds secured in this round will allow Aktiia to expand its commercial footprint in Europe and within the healthcare sector, and will go towards obtaining FDA clearance, ensuring further US expansion for Aktiia’s technology.
Mike Kisch, CEO at Aktiia, says “…the key to improving cardiovascular health is to provide patients and physicians a deeper understanding of their blood pressure pattern. Before Aktiia, it was not possible to do this at scale. We are excited about expanding access to this technology and the positive impact it can have on reducing major adverse cardiovascular events.”
Dr. Melvin Lobo, NHS Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Blood Pressure Clinic states – “I believe we are only scratching the surface of the possible applications for the long-term 24/7 blood pressure data that Aktiia is uniquely capable of providing to Physicians.” Going so far as to say that the Aktiia system “… is an indisputable game changer in enabling a better understanding of our patients’ blood pressure patterns and how to treat them on a personalized basis.”
Redalpine congratulates the entire team at Aktiia for reaching this major milestone and looks forward to being a part of their continued success.
