Redalpine leads USD 22 million Series A in animal-free dairy company Better Dairy

Better Dairy is using fermentation to develop animal-free hard cheeses

Redalpine is excited to announce its Series A investment in Better Dairy (RAC VI), an animal-free dairy company, as part of its RAC VI fund. The UK-based company intends to use the funding to advance their second generation precision fermentation platform with a focus on the development of hard cheeses that are free from animal-derived ingredients.

The new funding will accelerate research towards the development of future products and strengthen Better Dairy’s fermentation platform. Further investors in the round included Vorwerk Ventures, Manta Ray as well as participation of existing investors Happiness Capital and Stray Dog Capital.

Jevan Nagarajah, Better Dairy’s visionary CEO has said, “This is the beginning of a new era for food production. Advancements in science have allowed us to completely rethink the way we produce food. Not only will we be able to manufacture products, like dairy, much more sustainably than by traditional methods, but over time we will actually be able to design new products with a range of benefits for consumers”.

“We have no doubt that this is the way that dairy will be made in the future. We’ve been monitoring the space for a while now and were very impressed by everything that Jevan and the team have managed to achieve thus far, as well as their unique approach to tackling this huge opportunity.” says Nadine Geiser, Principal at Redalpine. She added, “We are very excited to partner with them and embark on this next step of their journey together.”
